It's the story of a group of bar flies that spend their time at the bar dreaming of what could have been. Hickey is the one bright light in their dreary lives that pops into the bar once a year to drink and laugh with them, helping them feel somewhat alive.
This year, however, Hickey brings them less than they're expecting and more of what they don't want to hear. His unexpected transformation throws everyone off track and sends them into a world of unwanted realizations about their pathetic lives.
By the end of the play, everyone's world is turned upside down, including Hickey's. Things are not as they may seem.
